POLITICAL ARTICLES
Like most educated Americans, Luke has been horrified by the dishonesty of the Bush administration and of the madness of many of its policies. He has expressed his rage in a series of political satires.
“Bad Dreams.” What would happen if President Bush suddenly changed all of his policies to meet the hopes of the American people? Luke tells us. Click here to read.
“Better a Roulette Wheel.” There certainly can be nothing more unfair and unrepresentative than our present election processes. Is there a better way? Luke has a suggestion. Click here to read.
“The New No-Spin Policy.” What would happen if our government officials stopped lying to the American people and instead said . . . nothing? Luke shows that it might work. Click here to read.
“SSSSHHHhhhhh.” This short jeu d’esprit examines the democratic party’s cowardice as we approach the 2006 fall elections. Click here to read.
"Harry Meets God" is a short story in which Luke wonders what would happen if God tried to enlist a typical American in the cause of reforming the world. Click here to read.

LATEST SCREENPLAYS
In the spring of 2005 Luke finished a first draft of a screenplay of his novel WHITE WIND, BLACK RIDER, working with John Taylor of Wayrider Films and Paul Farrell, a friend in Japan. The script is a dramatic adaptation of his exciting novel. To read the screenplay click here.
And in the spring of 2006 he finished a new draft of a screenplay based on his novel THE DICE MAN. This new draft was inspired when he read the draft that Mark and Dan Waters had written for Paramount in 2005. That draft, Although they worked with Mark and Dan in developing it, the executives of Paramount did not particularly like the script. Luke was amazed to see that Mark and Dan had not used a single character nor scene from the novel, instead creating a whole new group of characters to dramatize a comic story of dicing.
Luke felt that it was a bit foolish of Paramount to commission a screenplay that did not try to use much of the presumably good material from the novel. If they are making a film because a novel has millions of fans one might expect that they would feel it might be useful to keep much of the best of the novel. But they didn’t commission such a script, and Dan and Mark didn’t write one.
So Luke, who had previously written three distinct drafts of screenplays based on his novel, sat down and came up with yet another version. It tries to stay close to the best in the novel. To read the latest THE DICE MAN screenplay contact Luke at lukec@taconic.net.
