1969. Sex. Drugs. Rock n Roll. And a Whole Lotta Love.

A darkly comic and very sexy love story — the movie NAKED BEFORE THE WORLD is based on the novel by Luke Rhinehart, author of the international bestseller, The Dice Man.

Swinging Majorca in '69. The innocent Katya arrives in the midst of the hippie chaos of drugs and free love to find a new life. Pursued by men and women, from professors to hippies, she has to choose. And lets love conquer all.

NAKED BEFORE THE WORLD is a comic romp that follows the misadventures of the naïve and innocent Katya, as she leaves her conservative upbringing to study art in a small village on Majorca. On her way she makes friends with another student, Diane, a cynical street-smart young woman.

The village is full of establishment and tourist types, hippies, artists, frauds and womanizers--and Katya has a hard time telling how to respond to the males and females coming on to her. Diane tells her to distrust them all. On the one hand, most are proud of her being chosen by the great artist Piccolo Londo to work on one of his Creations, while they are against her spending any time with the hippest of the hippies, Franz, whose art of “noisies” randomly plays with sounds, words and even roles. When Londo tries to take advantage of her, a dramatic confrontation leads her to go against the establishment and trust Franz.

Angered at Katya’s obvious involvement with Franz, the director of the Institute, Dr. Toom, arranges to have him thrown off the island. Desolate and  uncertain, Katya finally decides to leave to find the man she knows she loves.  At a last party at Londo’s grand finca to promote Dr. Toom’s Institute, the party gets hilariously out of control. For one night the hippies rule the world of Maya.

At the climax of the bacchanalia, Katya defies the horrified Toom and Londo by doing a strip-tease, to stand, at last, naked before the world. When all seems lost, a masked stranger appears and with Diane’s help whisks Katya away on a burro. Who was that masked man?

Using the wonderful music of the period, the film is, like Luke Rhinehart’s classic novel THE DICE MAN, a funny, sexy, intellectual comedy. It explores Katya’s coming to womanhood as well as the follies of both hippies and Establishment. It is also a compelling love story—of love found, lost, and found again.

They say if you can remember the 60s you weren’t there. Naked Before The World will bring it all back — or make you wish that you had been !
